In view of the decision communicat-

-ed to me in Lord Crewe's Despatch No. 240 of the 1st. of

last September to relieve Hongkong from the charge of the

Postal Agencies in China it is clear that this item of

2800 should not after the 1st. of next January be charged

upon the revenue of this Colony and I have the honour to

request you to be good enough to take the necessary steps

to secure that this Government shall not after that date

be debited with this sum.
